CONCLUSION

  1. How was your group's performance?   

  • We think we were satisfied with our group performance and rate an A for our performance in    the group. 
  • The reason we satisfied with our group performance is because we always finish our task and project that given by our lecturer as soon as possible and won't delay to pass up our project.
  • Besides that, we use to hangout together because we can know each other well , so that  we can understand each other easily.We also come out for meeting to discuss our project can be settled and all the course work together. 
  • Last but not least, all of us always have aggressiveness. For example ,among other groups most of the time we was the first one to answer the questions that given by our lecturer and volunteer to present in class activities 

         2.  Did you enjoy your group work?                                                                                         

  • We enjoy our group work because there's a lot of fun when we're together. All of us love the feeling that facing problem and overcome it together.
  • For example, we won't be very serious all the time and we will hangout to ''mamak'' to take a break ,chit chat to relax then go back to work after that. Although we will take a break but we still have discipline to finish our task on time.

       3.  How did your group perform as compared to the other groups?                                              

  • Compared to other groups we think we're more active in class for example when lecturer asked some question we're always more active than other group to answer the questions that asked by lecturer.
  •  Furthermore, our achievement of group work will always be more effective among the class because we always passed up our assignment or group work earlier than others.
  • Last,we think we're more confident than other groups.For example ,we will prepared our presentation by rehearsal before presentation, that's why we will be more confident on the real presentation day.



      4.  Which part of your group work that you are proudest of ? 
   

  • The proudest part of our group work is the last presentation. Because we had put in a lot of effort inside this presentation.
  • We prepared the slide ,video and interviewed stuffs. This presentation we had prepared at least 2 month.
  • Besides that, our members that come from other state sacrifice their precious time to prepared this presentation by not going back to their hometown. 
  • Last but not least ,after we done our draft for the presentation we also did a lot of rehearsal to make us more confident when we're on stage.



       5.  Any improvements that can be made?  

  • The improvements that can be made is some of the member should be more active in whatsapp group because sometimes when we announce something in whatsapp group we need everyone to take note and give responds if not we're hard to make decisions. For example NG ZHONG HUI AND WONG TONG VEE.

Topic 5 group conflict (activity 2)

Activity 2 - Solve the conflict using conflict management strategies.


This is the case chosen for our group. And we need to solve the problem using conflict management strategies. 


Our group choose the owl and the teddy bear strategies which is confronting and smoothing. 

Confronting : seek a solution that achieve both their own and other person goals. (eg. solve problem with negotiation,use a iPhone as a condition for exchange)   

Smoothing : the relationship is great importance and give up the goals to preserve the relationship. (eg. Do the house chores and avoid the conflict.)

Act out a conflict situation. Explain what is conflict.



CONFLICT SITUATION

The situation is we are discussing about the meeting time. However, Ivan and Bryan crush with the meeting time because they have their personal things to do and this is not the first time already. Hence, it occurs some conflict between us.

MEANING OF GROUP CONFLICT

Group conflict means that every group members having different opinions. Conflict is also refer to disagreement, dispute, quarrel, struggle, fight, or battle.

What is conflict ?

  • Conflict is derived from Latin conflictus , meaning a '' striking together with force . "
  • Conflict refers to a disagreement , dispute , quarrel , struggle , fight or battle .
  • When group members' wants and goals " strike together " , disruptive effects are produced .

Conflict of interest

  1. Want : desire for something
  2. Need : universal necessity for survival
  3. Goal : desired ideal state of future affairs
  4. Interests : potential benefits to be gained by achieving goals
  5. Conflict of interests : actions taken by person A to achieve goal interfere with actions taken by person B to achieve goals

When is conflict of interest exists ?

  1. Whenever incompatibility activities happen
  2. Activities are incompatible when they interfere with the occurrence of each other

Conflict Postive Group

  • Conflicts are encouraged and managed constructively to enhance group effectiveness .
  • Focusing on problem solving .

Constructive resolution of conflict

  1. Agreement that maximizes joint outcomes and is in all participants ' best interests
  2. Relationship is improved
  3. Ability to resolve future conflicts improved

Conflict Negative Group

  • Conflicts are denied and avoided and managed destructively
  • Focusing on winning
